Al-Mujtaba Center for Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation is the first private (non-governmental) center in Iraq authorized by the Iraqi Ministry of Health to perform advanced bone marrow transplantation procedures.

It is one of only two centers licensed to carry out such procedures in Iraq

The center was inaugurated in July 2021, having commenced bone marrow transplantation operations in Karbala at Imam Zain Al-Abidin Hospital in 2020 before moving to Al-Mujtaba Center in 2022.

To date, the center has successfully performed autologous bone marrow transplants for 40 cases of various diseases, involving patients of different ages (both men and women) from various provinces of Iraq, referred by the medical evacuation committee from the Bone Marrow Transplant Center in Baghdad through the Iraqi Ministry of Health.

Al-Mujtaba Center is equipped with 26 beds for adults and 13 beds for children.
